Aki Hughes-Polk, Chief Practitioner and COO
 

Aki Hughes Polk is a Minnesota Licensed Clinical Counselor and the Chief Practitioner at Clear Horizons, LLC. She comes to Clear Horizons with a wealth of highly relevant experience. Aki has provided services and has lead other therapists and practitioners in several progressive behavioral health settings, to include Laureate Hospital in Tulsa, OK, and three Minnesota based organizations to include Catholic Charities where she participated on the Diversity Committee and developed and facilitated workshops on diversity training. Aki has worked to implement Adult Rehabilitative Mental Health Services into community seetings.  For this and other purposes, she was a liaison between community organizations and state agencies in Minnesota.  She has also developed workshops in Anger Management as well as provided leadership and strategies on issues designed to close achievement gaps related to emotional health and well-being in communities of color. Aki continues to serve her community through providing high quality behavioral health services to Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the surrounding areas. Among Aki’s accomplishment in this area are her development of a Verbal and De-escalation workshop to assist those working in highly volatile, reactive situations; an Ethics and Professional Boundaries workshop for those working in the behavioral health profession; Chemical Dependency Education for behavioral health professional; and other trainings for those in the Behavioral Health profession. She has attended enrichment training at the University of Minnesota, and is a Doctoral Candidtate in Clinical Psychology. Aki has been previously licensed in the state of Texas as a Social Worker and has licenses and certifications in the state of Minnesota as a Licensed Professional Counselor, a License Professional Clinical Counselor, and as a Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner.  Aki is a member of the American Psychological Association and the American Counseling Association.  She has also been accepted as a member of the Psi Chi International Honor Society.

Llewellyn "Llew" Hughes, CEO

Born in New Jersey, 'Lew joined the military in 1970 and served our nation until 1989. Having traveled to many parts of the world, interacting with and learning from people has been Lew's primary focus with his goal of becoming a part of the world community. As the owner of this veteran owned business, Lew is concerned about the mental health of all of our returning military members as they transition from combat.

Lew is married and has two children, one of which is the Chief Practioner of Clear Horizons, LLC.  Lew states "Our communities and families have been marred by the different traumas drug and alcohol abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, workplace violence due to loss of a job. Relationship concerns such as divorce, and dating concerns. Left unresolved, these issues become the insurmountable mountains in our lives."  "We at Clear Horizons are here, because we know that beyond every mountain there are clear horizons."
